Opening the door to a practical spiritual life!
The Tenrikyo UK Weekend Seminar is
designed to teach or enhance the understanding of the core of Tenrikyo teachings
and to enable people to come in touch with the life of Tenrikyo during the
weekend. For those attending the seminar, arrangements can be made to stay over
in the Tenrikyo UK Centre on the previous night. The Seminar also provides an
opportunity for receiving the “Divine Grant” or “Sazuke” for people in need of
healing.
The name, Tenrikyo, can literally be translated as the “Teachings of Heavenly
Reason”. “Heavenly” signifies the cosmological and universal nature of the
teachings and “Reason” emphasises the warm Parental nature of the teachings.
Tenrikyo is a spiritual teaching about the creative, nurturing and protective principle of nature and the universe, which we refer to as Tenri-O-no-Mikoto. In one sense, Tenrikyo is a path towards spiritual liberation, but a path of a very practical nature. Tenrikyo came into existence on 26th October 1838 through the revelatory experiences of Mrs Miki Nakayama, who at that time lived in Nara Prefecture, Japan. Since that time She has often been referred to using the honorific title Oyasama, literally “Our Beloved Parent”.
The teaching explains that the objective of human existence is to lead the “Joyous Life”, which is a life pervaded by ever refreshing joy and filled with an exhilarating sense of inner delight, that is, a life full of happiness. The teaching tells us to pave the way to attain the goal in this world we live today.
Tenrikyo is a very practical teaching, offering workable solutions to the troubles and problems, which may arise in life. The teaching also allows us to understand our relationship with nature and with other people, and to put this understanding to constructive use. When people come to study Tenrikyo, they are often surprised by the very positive, open and non-judgmental tone of the teachings.
It would be our great pleasure if this seminar serves to open a door to a better spiritual life and provide practical guidance for you and your family's physical and social life.
